Director of Operations

We are looking for an experienced, organized, hands-on Retail Store Manager who can take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the store while leading our team and helping us continue to improve our systems and customer experience.

This is an important leadership position within our company. The ideal candidate will be someone who can confidently manage employees while also overseeing scheduling, purchasing, receiving, inventory management, and daily store operations.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Team Leadership & Employee Management

• Lead, supervise, and support store employees
• Create and manage employee schedules to ensure appropriate store coverage
• Coordinate daily assignments and responsibilities
• Train and onboard new employees
• Coach employees and provide ongoing performance feedback
• Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable
• Address employee concerns and performance issues professionally
• Help create a positive, productive, team-oriented work environment
• Ensure employees consistently provide excellent customer service

Store Operations

• Oversee day-to-day retail store operations
• Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed properly
• Maintain appropriate staffing and floor coverage throughout the day
• Monitor store organization, cleanliness, and overall presentation
• Identify operational problems and proactively work toward solutions
• Establish and reinforce consistent processes and procedures
• Help ensure the store operates efficiently during busy and seasonal periods
• Communicate operational needs, concerns, and opportunities to ownership

Purchasing & Vendor Management

• Assist with and oversee purchasing for the store
• Monitor product needs and inventory levels
• Create and manage purchase orders
• Communicate with vendors regarding orders, products, pricing, and discrepancies
• Follow up on outstanding or incomplete orders
• Help prevent unnecessary overstocking and product shortages
• Maintain organized purchasing and receiving records

Inventory & Receiving

• Take an active role in maintaining accurate inventory
• Oversee the receiving of incoming merchandise
• Ensure received products are accurately compared to purchase orders and vendor invoices
• Identify and resolve shortages, overages, damaged merchandise, and other receiving discrepancies
• Ensure merchandise is correctly entered, labeled, priced, and stocked
• Monitor inventory counts and investigate discrepancies
• Help develop and maintain stronger inventory control procedures
• Coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory counts as needed
• Maintain organization in stockrooms and receiving areas

Customer Experience

• Set the expectation for excellent customer service throughout the store
• Assist employees with difficult customer situations
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and appropriately
• Ensure customers are greeted, assisted, and treated consistently
• Help create an enjoyable and memorable shopping experience for Shell World customers

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous retail store management or comparable management experience
• Experience directly supervising and leading employees
• Experience creating and managing employee schedules
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Experience with retail inventory management
• Purchasing, ordering, or vendor management experience
• Experience with receiving merchandise and resolving order discrepancies
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Confidence addressing employee performance and accountability issues
• Ability to identify problems and take initiative without waiting for constant direction
• Strong attention to detail
• Comfort using POS, inventory, scheduling, and other business software
• Ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes
• A hands-on leadership style and willingness to jump in wherever needed

Experience managing a high-volume or large retail operation is strongly preferred.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• In-person at our Key Largo retail location

Compensation

$65,000–$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Compensation will reflect the candidate’s level of retail management, leadership, purchasing, inventory management, and operational experience.
